Life Skills Training
Five Points Sober Living offers life skills training by having a structure where by guests need to do something constructive and positive, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. This can include work, job search, volunteering, attending treatment groups or attending school. Once a week there is a meeting with a special focus on house chores and cleaning and if guests do not know how to clean or do not like to clean, they will learn how to clean and how to maintain chores daily by living in the sober residences. Other life skills are learned through showing up consistently and on-time in meetings, whether they are in-house meetings or out of the house meetings. Then, of course, there is conflict resolution tactics, accountability of time, place, and behavior, and effective communication skills which are all necessary when living in close community with others. The life skills that are learned at Orange County Recovery are beneficial in building a foundation of recovery with good habits and healthy behaviors that will pay dividends in the future.
